Brower Center Tours
We offer free hour-long public tours on the first Friday of each month at 4 pm.
Visit the David Brower Center to get an in-depth look at Berkeley’s premiere destination for sustainability. Each hour-long tour also includes an introduction to the current Hazel Wolf Gallery art exhibition, a review of the building’s state-of-the-art green features, and an overview of the many well-known environmental and social justice organizations that call the Brower Center home.
You can also book a custom, private tour for your group of 5 or more based on one of three themes:
Take a guided tour of the Hazel Wolf Gallery, which features exhibitions focused on the “art of advocacy” ranging from retrospective to cutting-edge, amateur to expert, local to global, and past to present-day to future. Learn about the current exhibit and explore the diverse ways in which art serves the green movement. The tour also includes a trip to the upper floors of the building to view the permanent collection, and basic information on the architectural design of our LEED Platinum certified building.

Green Building Tour
Green from the ground up, the Brower Center is a powerful model of sustainable, mixed-use development. This tour will give you a look into the latest energy-saving technologies and recycled building materials. Find out how the Brower Center earned a LEED Platinum rating, the highest possible rating from the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
The tour will discuss features such as our Photovoltaic panels, which double as a sun shade device, the collection and reuse of rainwater for irrigation and toilet flushing and vertical post-tensioned structures to minimize potential damage due to earthquakes.
For more information on our building’s unique features, please visit our building page.
The David Brower Center is not just for adults. Our Youth Tours are designed to inspire the next generation of social and environmental activists and generate excitement about green building, sustainability, and the art of advocacy. The Youth Tour uses engaging conversation and inspiring activities to explore green features of the Brower Center structure, the broad range of inspiring work being done by our resident organizations, and the basics of responsible green living.
