Job title: House Manager (part-time)
Location: Berkeley, California
Reports to: Production Manager
Job Summary
This part-time position is responsible for representing the facility and providing on-site management to event rental clients. The Center seeks several professional, responsible individuals with experience working as client liaisons during special events and meetings such as lectures, films, receptions, and sitdown dinners. The event schedule varies and may include daytime, evening, and weekend events.
During events, House Managers provide excellent customer service, enforce rental policies and procedures, and are responsible for the security of the building during. The ideal candidate has experience managing events on behalf of a high quality rental facility, has excellent communication skills, is familiar with the logistics associated with meeting and event planning, and has experience operating audio-visual equipment.
Responsibilities
- Function as primary liaison to client throughout event
- Ensure that the facility and its equipment are in good condition, secure, clean and safe
- Enforce terms of clients’ license and use agreements
- Manage security contractors during events
- Manage A/V technicians during events
- Assist in setting up and breaking down of event furniture and equipment
- Function as liaison with all vendors, caterers, and any other contractors associated with events
- Support staff in assessing and enhancing event operations
- Provide thorough post-event reports
- Provide condition reports on the facility and equipment
- Participate in staff meetings and organizational planning as appropriate
- Provide post-event reports
- Maintain knowledge and inventory of A/V and other event-related equipment
Additional responsibilities and tasks as necessary.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum three years of experience as on-site event staff for special events, meetings, and/ or conferences. Familiarity with audio-visual operations is ideal, including connections between laptops and digital projectors and basic sound reinforcement.
Education:
High school diploma required, college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Qualifications:
- Able to work in early mornings, evenings, and on weekends
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Calm under pressure and experienced with crisis management
- Familiarity with catering and event-related food and beverage service
- Able to trouble-shoot and make sound independent decisions
- Proactive approach to solving problems and creating solutions
- Able to lift and move up to 30 lbs
