    A Stirring of Love for the Earth: The Bold Vision of David Brower

    Dave Brower was not only a visionary leader and grassroots activist, he was also a skilled editor and wordsmith, utilizing words, photographs, exhibition-format books, lectures, and full-page ads in magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times to engage the public, build campaigns, and enlist support for the conservation, preservation and restoration of the Earth.

     

    This exhibition presents a selection of images, writings, and artifacts from the career of David Ross Brower. It showcases his work in creating Cascade National Park, protecting Point Reyes National Seashore and his successful campaign to block the damming of the Grand Canyon. Also on view are images of David Brower as a young, energetic rock climber, as well pictures of him with various world leaders as a grown man. Finally, a world map depicts past and present projects of the Earth Island Institute (founded by David Brower), highlighting Brower's monumental effect on conservation efforts around the world.
